Event Description:

STAR: Summer Transition, Advising and Registration 2018
(Please note dates for specific audiences below)

Purdue’s Summer Transition, Advising and Registration (STAR) program is designed to ease a student’s transition to life at the University. Attendance at STAR helps students connect with the University community, meet with those who will aid them in their academic career, and establish relationships that will be important to their success. Students, along with their guests, attend sessions and perform tasks to prepare for their academic experience. Registration is required.

Students receive academic advising to create their initial academic plan and prioritize course selections. Later in the day, students submit their course requests and preferences, identifying alternatives for individual selections where appropriate. Once STAR concludes in mid-July and after placement test results and advanced placement (AP) credits post, Purdue will create course schedules for all STAR and VSTAR participants to meet the greatest possible number of student priorities. Additionally, students and their guests participate in other important activities such as:

  • Learn about degree requirements and what students’ respective colleges have to offer
  • Complete optional placement testing (e.g. foreign language, COM 114, etc.)
  • Explore additional student support options (such as cultural and resource centers)
  • Attend sessions about dining plans, residential life, tuition and payments, and more
Additional Information
Registration is required
