The Purdue Alumni Association presents Krannert School of Management lecturer R. Thomas Godwin as he hosts a one-hour presentation and answers questions about the 2018 tax law updates. Topics to be covered include:

  • Individual tax law
  • Entity tax law
  • New and altered regulations
  • Guidance

Due to the government shutdown, the IRS answer centers are closed or operating below normal levels, reducing the resources available to CPAs. All registrants will be able to access a community forum within the Purdue Alumni Association website in order to share information regarding taxes.

This event is free to any member of the Purdue Alumni Association but is most appropriate for CPAs and professional tax preparers. Registration is required.

About The Presenter

R. Thomas Godwin
R. Thomas Godwin, CPA, CGMA
 
Thomas Godwin has been a licensed certified public accountant in the state of South Carolina (#8427) since January 2012 and holds a Chartered Global Management Accountant designation. He graduated magna cum laude from Clemson University in 2009 with a bachelor of science degree in accounting. In 2010, he earned a master of professional accountancy degree with a concentration in taxation from Clemson University.
 
Prior to Purdue, Godwin provided tax and consulting services to large companies in the real estate industry, including commercial and residential real estate development, hotels, construction, and mortgage servicing for several years at a large regional public accounting firm. He also provided tax and consulting services for large public manufacturing and distribution companies, private equity funds, closely held businesses, and high net worth individuals. 

He currently teaches Tax Accounting (MGMT 50400) and Tax Practicum (MGMT 59000) at Purdue where he is a PhD candidate in management (accounting). Godwin’s primary research interests are in the areas of taxation and financial reporting.
