Event Description:
The ethics of eating: Personal and global choices

Sponsored by the Ingestive Behavior Research Center (IRBC) at Purdue University, this 60-minute lecture will be followed by a reception for registered conference attendees. How do we make decisions where civil liberties are at odds with policies to address population needs? How do we weigh the relative importance of economic growth versus the health the population where the two are not easily harmonized? Whose request should be honored when making decisions about the end of life feeding – the patient, family or health care institution? The major challenge addressed at this conference will be to not only acknowledge and characterize these dilemmas, but to raise awareness of the issues involved and begin a dialog to address them.

Registration is free but required.
