Mahan Esfahani
Start Date: 4/25/2019 All Day
End Date: 4/25/2019

Event Description:
Esfahani, in total control technically, clearly delights in exploiting the expressive possibilities of the harpsichord and its sheer variety of sounds.
— Gramophone
For harpsichordists, mere musical mastery isn’t enough. There’s always, as Mahan Esfahani says, “missionary work” to counter centuries of misunderstanding about the piano’s predecessor. Esfahani first heard harpsichord several years after his family moved from Tehran to the United States. Today, as a faculty member at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London, he’s a vigorous musicologist, vibrant conversationalist, and adventurous performer—and he’s no Early Music exclusivist, either, spanning Bach to Reich and beyond. The only harpsichordist to become a BBC New Generation Artist, Borletti-Buitoni prizewinner, and Gramophone Artist of the Year nominee, Esfahani will hold forth in the elegant salon setting of Duncan Hall, illuminating the music with his abundant wit and intellect.
These performances are limited salon engagements, with the artist and audience seated in close proximity for an exclusive, extraordinary
recital experience. Seating is general admission and ticket requests will be filled in Friends Priority Point order. A cash bar of wine and beer will be available.

LOCATION: Duncan Hall, 619 Ferry St., Lafayette, IN, 47901, United States
